It’s especially important to find an accessible home if your current one is hindering your recovery. A home that is accessible will have features like widened doorways and hallways, a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, and a kitchen that is easy to use.
If your current home doesn’t have these features, start researching potential homes in your desired area. An accessible home can help you regain your independence and get back to your regular routine. It can also improve your quality of life and allow you to spend quality time with your friends and family.
Modify your diet.
What we put into our bodies has a direct impact on our physical and spiritual well-being. After a cancer diagnosis, you must pay extra attention to what you’re eating and drinking. Incorporating more whole foods into your diet and cutting out processed foods can help you feel your best. You may also want to include more cancer-fighting foods such as turmeric, ginger, berries, and leafy green vegetables.
Develop an exercise routine.
Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but it’s also good for your mental and spiritual well-being. Find an exercise routine that works for you. If you’ve never exercised before, start slow by walking around your neighborhood or doing gentle yoga poses at home. You can increase the intensity of your workouts as you get stronger. But always listen to your body and rest when you need to.
Manage your stress.
Stress can take a toll on our bodies, minds, and spirits. That’s why it’s essential to find ways to manage your stress after a cancer diagnosis. Taking breaks throughout the day, meditating, relaxing in nature, and spending time with loved ones are all excellent ways to reduce stress. You may also want to consider talking to a therapist who specializes in helping people deal with cancer-related stressors.
Surround yourself with support.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be very isolating. That’s why it’s so critical to surround yourself with supportive people during this time. Lean on your friends and family members, and seek out Cancer Support Groups in your area if you want additional social support. Also, explore media resources such as books, podcasts, or articles about other people’s experiences with cancer.
Get your rest.
The importance of getting rest when you have cancer cannot be overstated. When your body is fighting cancer, it works hard and needs time to recuperate. Be sure to schedule downtime and relaxation so your body can heal. Consider talking to your doctor about how much rest you need and how best to schedule it into your day-to-day routine.

You can improve your spiritual well-being along the way by finding a new place to call home, modifying your diet, managing your stress, and making the other lifestyle changes above.
